Women of the Future Southeast Asia Judging Day

The Women of the Future Awards Southeast Asia 2019 judging day was held on December 5th at the Aviva offices in Singapore . We were fortunate to have 20 incredible judges join us on the day; the judges were a diverse group representing many different companies, including Facebook, Cisco, Google and Omnicom. Two judges were allocated per category and had the opportunity to speak with each candidate, to understand more about their journey and how they would leverage the Awards, as a platform to effect real change in their communities. The judges were overwhelmed with the depth and breadth of the quality of the candidates, each one demonstrating an incredible passion, drive and determination to succeed.

“We were blown away by the passion, clarity, drive and commitment of all the candidates in our category to drive change within the communities they work in; they all had a very clear vision about where they wanted to take the enterprises they work for.” Phil Pomford, General Manager,  Global Enterprise eCommerce – Asia Pacific, Worldpay

The judges had the unenviable task of selecting the winner from an incredibly high-quality field of candidates, many of whom had travelled to Singapore from across the region to meet the judges in person. The enthusiasm and positive energy of all the candidates was clear for all to see, with many in disbelief that they had been shortlisted.

“This programme is special because it shows everyone that no matter where you come from, how small your country is, if you believe in your message, and you are passionate and you are doing what makes your heart sing, you can be heard and you can make a difference.” Noor Affizan Rahman, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Ministry of Health, Brunei

After the judging morning, the judges and candidates then travelled to Google for a tour of their incredibly high-tech offices in Singapore. The tour was then followed by a networking event where we heard from two shortlisted candidates from last year; Jessica Cheam from Singapore and Sikieng Sok from Cambodia. They spoke about the positive impact of the programme on their journey, a year on from their own judging day.

We look forward to seeing all the judges and candidates, once again at the awards ceremony on March 21st, when the winners will be announced at the Hilton in Singapore. To book your place to celebrate all the candidates, please visit our website – https://awards.womenofthefuture.co.uk/seasia/
