On Friday 25th January, 40 students visited the Aviva Head Office in Central London, as part of the Women of the Future Ambassadors Programme sponsored by Lloyds Banking Group. The students came from five different schools around the London area and were treated to a tour of the Aviva offices followed by presentations from Aviva representatives from many different departments including Finance, HR and operations, as well as a networking session over lunch, providing students with an opportunity to speak one on one with Aviva employees. The event was attended by Caroline Prendergast, Interim Chief People Officer at Aviva and Pinky Lilani CBE DL, Founder of Women of the Future Programme, who both spoke with the students and shared their insights and advice. These corporate visits are an integral component of the Ambassadors programme. They provide students with an immersive experience of an organisation and a deeper understanding of the diversity of roles and department within an organisation.
Immediately after the visit, feedback was received from the schools sharing how much the students had enjoyed the experience and how valuable the visit had been in terms of broadening their understanding of the opportunities available to them.
“The girls were blown away by their experiences seeing the Aviva offices and hearing and meeting to so many interesting, approachable and inspirational women. Their horizons have been broadened and confidence grown. A few hours out in London has delivered something I could never do within the school gates and I can’t thank you all enough.”
“Thank you to Aviva for organising a fantastic event that enabled students to broaden their lens of vision and understand the incredible opportunities that are available to them – and of course huge appreciation to Lloyds Banking Group for sponsoring this initiative once again this year and enabling this unique programme to come to life!”
