On January 22, Mr Speaker, The Rt Hon John Bercow MP, hosted some of our 2017 and 2018 Women of the Future Awards Alumnae, in the State Rooms, Speaker’s House, House of Commons. It was a special afternoon of networking bringing together high-achieving women at a special, iconic venue.
“I always feel so privileged to attend the Women of the Future events, and the reception at the Speaker’s House was no exception. It’s brilliant to have the opportunity to catch-up with fellow Women of the Future alumni from across the years, and connect with new ones – I usually consider myself thoroughly rubbish at networking, but it’s like being in a room full of old friends – always so warm and welcoming.
As well as conversations with the alumni themselves proving inspirational, you almost have to pinch yourself as you take in your surroundings – not least keeping company with Pinky herself, but to have socialised with the Speaker of the House of Commons at such a tumultuous time in politics, was fantastic; he was so eloquent and generous with both his time and hospitality.
I left feeling motivated, energised and happy – which was quite something for a snowy afternoon in January; I’m very much looking forward to the next one.”
